We asked Yvonne about the twenty seven years, the Australian minerals, and how on earth you choose between the three.
After 27 years, what inspired you to create Oré?
After 27 years, the decision to create Oré was less about starting a makeup brand and more about creating something I felt was missing.
Throughout my career, I had the privilege of working closely with women and their skin through every stage of life. I became increasingly aware that truly beautiful makeup should do more than perfect the complexion. It should honour the skin beneath it. I wanted to create formulas that felt as considered as skincare, performed beautifully and left the complexion looking like skin at its most refined.
Oré is the culmination of almost three decades of experience, observation and a very clear understanding of what women want and expect from their beauty products. I didn’t want to create more makeup. I wanted to create exceptional makeup with purpose, a collection that elevates the complexion while allowing a woman’s own beauty to remain the centre.

What was the biggest challenge in developing Oré?
The greatest challenge was translating 27 years of understanding skin into makeup that was equally beautiful, luxurious and high-performing. I knew exactly how I wanted the makeup to feel on the skin; however, achieving that balance in formulation required extraordinary precision. There was no room for compromise. Every detail had to be considered, from texture and finish to wear and how the formula evolved on the skin throughout the day.
For me, that became the essence of Oré: where skin expertise meets luxury beauty, and makeup becomes part of the care rather than separate from it.
Why were Australian minerals important to the brand?
Australian minerals were very important to me as I wanted Oré to have a genuine connection to its origin, considered, beautiful and distinctly Australian. Having spent 27 years working with skin, I was very conscious of the quality and purity of the ingredients we selected. Australian minerals offer exceptional natural qualities, while also allowing us to create formulations that feel incredibly refined on the skin.
For me, it was never simply about sourcing locally. It was about choosing ingredients with integrity and creating makeup that reflects the Australian philosophy of effortless, understated beauty. That combination of purity, provenance and performance is at the heart of Oré.
How do you choose between the different complexion products?
Each was created to offer a different expression of the Oré complexion. The choice really comes down to the finish, coverage and ritual you prefer.

Ultimately, I don’t believe in one foundation for every woman. Oré is about choosing what your skin needs and how you want it to feel that day.
What does a “considered complexion” mean to you?
To me, a considered complexion is about refinement rather than concealment.
It’s skin that looks beautifully perfected, with every element being intentional: texture, coverage, luminosity and where you choose to let your natural complexion shine through. Traditional full coverage can sometimes create a sense of uniformity, where the goal is to cover everything. I wanted Oré to take a more elevated approach: enhancing the complexion rather than masking it. A considered complexion is quietly luxurious, polished, luminous and effortless, with the woman herself remaining the focus.
