If there’s one thing I’ve learned about wellness, it’s that the right mix of treatments can leave you feeling both revived and re-energised — and that’s exactly what happened during my recent visit to Bionik Wellness in Sydney. Open for over four years and conveniently operating on weekends, Bionik has built a loyal following for its science-backed, medical-grade therapies.

I started with the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in their futuristic AirPod chamber. At 1.5 ATA, this pressurised environment floods your body with oxygen (plus an added hydroxy unit for hydration), nourishing cells, speeding up recovery, and boosting mental clarity. You can use the time to meditate — or, like me, get some work done and even take a call. The air feels noticeably cleaner, and it’s easy to see why their clients range from post-surgery patients to athletes chasing peak performance.

Next up was Embody, a high-intensity electromagnetic treatment that simulates 20,000+ ultra-powerful muscle contractions in a single session. I walked out feeling like I’d smashed a million squats — in the best way. It’s non-invasive, targets stubborn fat, and sculpts muscle. They also offer variations to tone and lift different areas, but for me, the strength-building focus was the standout.

Then came my unexpected favourite: Normatec compression therapy — or as I call them, “the leg bags.” For someone who gets period-related fluid retention (and let’s be honest, many of us do), this was bliss. The rhythmic compression felt strange at first but quickly turned deeply satisfying, flushing out fluid and easing heaviness. Wow!!

Finally, I settled into the Infrared Sauna, a Bionik signature. Deep heat penetrates to the cellular level, detoxifying, improving circulation, and supporting muscle recovery. The warm red glow, soothing atmosphere, and the promise of glowing skin made it a luxurious finish. Stepping out, the Dyson hairdryer waiting in the changeroom was the cherry on top.

Bionik’s treatment menu is cleverly curated: hyperbaric therapy for cellular healing, electromagnetic sessions for strength and tone, compression boots for circulation and recovery, and saunas for detox and skin health. Whether you’re chasing athletic performance, beauty benefits, or just an hour of deep restoration, it’s a space that works as hard as it relaxes.

I left feeling lighter, energised, and — surprisingly — like I’d ticked off a full workout without breaking a sweat. One to try, and definitely one to go back to.
