In this Style Machine Tastemaker Profile, we chat with Tiarne Bova, Co-Founder of The Yard Gym, about blending fitness with everyday style. She shares her go-to outfits, influences, and insights on activewear trends for 2025, offering inspiration for fitness enthusiasts.

What’s your go-to outfit when you want to look stylish but need to head straight from a workout to the rest of your day?
I love a functional yet put-together look that transitions effortlessly. I usually go for leggings or shorts paired with a sports crop—generally in neutral colours and worn as a set. Throwing on a lightweight jacket or an oversized blazer completes the look. It’s important that I feel comfortable after a workout but still presentable for meetings or social events.
You’ve positioned The Yard Gym as more than just a workout space—it’s a lifestyle brand. How do you incorporate community, style, and innovation to create a fitness experience that goes beyond the gym floor?
At The Yard Gym, fitness is the foundation for a fulfilling life, but our mission extends beyond just training. We combine community, lifestyle, and innovation by creating an environment where members connect through run clubs, exclusive events, and partnerships with like-minded lifestyle brands. Our trainers truly embody this ethos, and their confidence is reflected in our uniform collaborations. We’re always focused on blending fitness with a sense of style and purpose that inspires people to live healthier, more aspirational lives.

What inspired you to create a uniform for The Yard Gym trainers, and how did you ensure it aligned with your vision for the brand?
The idea came from a desire to make our trainers feel like the elite professionals they are. Their appearance reflects the pride and confidence that come with being part of The Yard Gym. Collaborating with STAX allowed us to create a design that is modern, functional, and aligned with our brand’s elite identity. Our goal is to enhance their performance while ensuring they feel amazing in front of clients. We want our trainers to set the standard in the industry, and the uniform plays a crucial role in achieving that.
Who influences your personal style, both inside and outside of the gym?
Inside the gym, I draw inspiration from performance-driven brands and athletes who prioritise both function and aesthetics. Outside the gym, I look to Pinterest, street style, and various fashion brands for inspiration, particularly admiring classic, clean lines and timeless pieces that embody understated luxury. I don’t have one specific style icon; instead, I appreciate how various individuals blend simplicity with boldness, and I aim to reflect that in my own look. Some of my favourite style inspirations include Hang Rutjes, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hailey Bieber, Sandra Heinrich Sauceda, Elin Kling, Elsa Hosk, and Irina Shayk, to name just a few.
What are your “go-to” sneakers for a workout?
I like to mix it up a bit, and currently, my favourite sneaker brands are NIKE, NEW BALANCE, and ASICS.
What is one fashion trend you absolutely love, even if it goes in and out of style?
I love styling an oversized boyfriend blazer that can double as a dress. I typically wear it over bike shorts and a fitted ribbed top, or white t-shirt for a classic layered look. It can look like you’re wearing no pants from the back, but I kind of dig the look, ha! I love to pair it back with a simple ballet flat or loafers worn with socks.
What’s your go-to outfit when you need to look both professional and comfortable?
When aiming to balance professionalism and comfort, my go-to outfit is tailored pants paired with a white structured men’s tee or a ribbed tank, topped with an oversized blazer. I usually tuck in the top with a belt and finish the look with a classic handbag. Handbags and shoes are my key investment pieces. For a busy day, New Balance or ASICS sneakers are my choice for comfort, while ballet flats or simple heels create a more polished appearance.
