There was a significant shift at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week towards a more artistic craftsmanship than that of previous years as all brands seemed to be celebrating the art of fashion once again, with a blend of the traditional haute couture elements dazzling the crowd mixed with innovation and modern styles. The use of metallics, shimmer and sheer materials was a major departure from conservative fabrics and designs with a burst of fascination and beauty taking over every show.

There was a nod to the past and older fashion (perhaps inspired by Bridgertons social calendar) with ruching and hooded gowns reimagined into a contemporary context. With these trends set to influence street style fashion to come, elements like metallics and sheer fabrics will trickle down to ready-to-wear collections as designers incorporate these playful textures.

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is ultimately a celebration of fashion and artistry, something we have been distracted from for what seems quite some time. This week was a reminder of the craftsmanship and skill of these truly gifted designers. Applause.
